Campfire at Moonlight Bend

We've tried to make getting away as simple as possible!  Simply pack your bags and plan to arrive to a clean and fresh cabin ~ your home ~ your getaway!  It's time to make some memories now...

Upon arrival, enjoy a large spacious cabin with a plenty of room for 8 guests.  Our kitchens feature full sized appliances to include a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave and dishwasher. Enjoy lots of space in the kitchen for several cooks and our favorite Gooseberry Patch cookbooks for culinary inspiration.  Find everything you need to cook; from dinnerware, cookware, flatware, glasses, cups, utensils, grill utensils, cutting board, coffee maker, toaster, can opener and more!

Keep things simple and plan to shop at our local Hy-Vee or Fareway stores. Simply unload your groceries directly into your cabin and let your family fun begin.  If you happen to bring a cooler, please leave it outside on the deck to protect our wood floor.

Enjoy central heat/air conditioning plus the ambiance of a cozy gas fireplace to take the chill off the night air.  Entertain yourself with 37" cable HDTV and wireless internet.  Please let us know in advance if you need a DVD player and we'll be sure to arrange it in your cabin before your arrival.  In the event of a severe storm, take shelter down a stairway to the lighted 4-foot concrete enclosed crawl space and find a few flashlights in a kitchen drawer ~ just in case you need them.

Plan a delicious grilled dinner using the gas grill (available seasonally) on your deck and dine al fresco as nature and our meadow tucks itself in for the night. Gather at the campfire ring (available seasonally) outside your cabin and enjoy the dark skies and a beautiful light show of fire flies!

Hop into a plush pillow top bed generously piled with pillows and dressed with a triple sheeted duvet comforter and Red Cedar Lodge locally quilted bed scarves.  When it's time to freshen up, soak up the steam in a beautifully tiled shower and then wrap up in a soft microfiber cotton towel.

Are you ready now?  It's time to select your cabin and pack your bags!

"Our family can't say enough wonderful things about the Red Cedar Lodge. We were called back to the area for a family funeral. An event that is always so difficult. My brother suggested that we rent out the cabins at the Lodge. It was one of the best ideas ever. The stress and the strain of the entire funeral process was greatly eased every day by knowing that everyone in the family could go back to the Lodge and relax. If you needed to be alone and get away on a walk, the river paths were right there. If you wanted to gather and share stories, there was room for everyone around the fire. The Red Cedar Lodge allowed everyone the space they needed to find their peace with the situation. We all will be back to celebrate a much happier time at the Lodge. Tom & Lorraine, Thanks again for your wonderful hospitality and beautiful facilities!"

Nora Springs, Iowa

"What a wonderful getaway! We stayed at Sunrise Ridge cabin for a Girlfriend Getaway Weekend. It was a fabulous time and Tom and Lorraine were so welcoming! We were already planning our next stays! There were 8 of us and plenty of room. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to go to enjoy the weekend. We will definitely be back again and again!"

Louise & Steve Peasley

Boone, Iowa

"At the end of December, we spent 2 nights in The Eagle's Nest. It was a surprise trip my husband had planned for our 42nd anniversary. We arrived after dark and I was pleasantly surprised when we entered the 'cabin'. The 'cabin' was immaculate and breathtaking, what I’d call “rustic luxury.” We both love the birch wood furniture throughout the cabin. My husband had asked Lorraine where he could order flowers for me and they were sitting on the table in the living room when we arrived. It was a gorgeous arrangement! Thanks, Lorraine! The living room held the unique excitement of an eagle sculpture that looked like it was flying out of the log wall. As we sat in the warmth of the fireplace, we talked and enjoyed the view of the snow-covered trees and the untouched snow through the front windows. If we had been there longer, I would have loved using the reading nook on the second floor. Our stay was much too short! When we left my husband told Tom how much I enjoyed the surprise stay and Tom said it sounded like Steve hit a ‘Homerun’. Steve told him it was better described as a “Grand Slam”! I have told many people about it and advised them to take a trip and spend some time there. We hope to return for another stay when we can enjoy the Fireside Patio, warming up on a chilly summer night! Do not hesitate to make time to stay at the Red Cedar Lodge. This is a treasure hidden in the woods of Floyd County!"

The McBride Family

Logan, Iowa

"The McBride family wants to take this opportunity to let you know how very pleased we were with your Lodge. The accommodations are second to none and the hospitality shown to us all was wonderful. We can honestly say everyone had a great time and will keep you in mind for future visits. We will also spread the word about your Lodge to others we know who are looking for a nice weekend getaway. Thanks again for a lovely place to stay and enjoy."

Frank & Eleanore Martin

"We booked all three cabins for Christmas presents to our children and their families last Christmas. We stayed there in the fall, this year. It was a great time had by all and we hope to make it an annual affair. Tom & Lorraine were great hosts and the cabins were amazing! They are also centrally located for the family."

Janelle & Bob McDonough

Hermitage, Pennsylvania

"We recently rented the Moonlight Bend cabin for an annual family reunion on Memorial Day weekend and it was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! Our kids and grandchildren just loved the experience and accommodations! We've been home 2 weeks and they are still talking about how much fun they had and how great the hospitality was from Tom and Lorraine. Our family reunion could not have gone better and all agreed it was a wonderful venue. The view overlooking the river was beautiful and each morning we enjoyed our coffee with this view. Thank you so much for making our family reunion one that will be memorable for many years to come! We hope to return again someday when such a venue is needed. This will certainly be our 1st choice!"

"We just returned home from staying in the Eagle's Nest cabin, and we're already planning our trip back! We enjoyed every minute. It is one of the most beautiful places to wake up in the morning! Every hour of each day was so relaxing, and our kids thoroughly enjoyed every second! You have sure thought of everything! THANK YOU!"

Tom Lidd

Cedar Rapids, Iowa

"I grew up near the Red Cedar Lodge. I understand why the Winterinks built this lodge, knowing we would come. The peacefulness and serenity of the beautiful Cedar River is better experienced than described with words - limestone cliffs, sand dunes, clear water, forests, fish, wildlife, birds, canoeing, kayaking and fishing: you become one with nature, the mind and soul are rejuvenated. The cabins, with their magnificent views, are wonderful places to relax during the evening before you are summoned by the outdoors to wake up and do it all again."

Jeff & Barb Ramsland

Daphne, Alabama

"We stayed in Sunrise Ridge for Wartburg's Homecoming. What a great place and beautiful view! These cabins are cleaner than any hospital room, and a lot more fun. Very relaxing place to stay. The Winterinks are great hosts. I look forward to the next visit."

Marg & Bill Kennedy

"We rented one of the cabins over the 4th of July weekend and had a great time. The Red Cedar Lodge was the perfect place for our families to stay and relax while visiting family in Charles City. The accommodations were fantastic and our young children had a great time experiencing the Cedar River. We recommend anyone planning time in Charles City to consider staying at the Red Cedar Lodge. We're planning on it again soon!"

Jeff Sisson

"The Red Cedar Lodge provides an easily accessible recreational opportunity second to none for guests of all ages. Mother Nature created this gem of a place in the North Iowa wilderness for all to explore and whether it is fishing, hiking, bicycling, canoeing or just plain relaxing...this is the spot. I invite you to enjoy the beauty of the upper Midwest welcomed by great hosts in a great location...guaranteed!"

"We rented the Moonlight Bend cabin for my wife's birthday. What a pleasant surprise. We stay at many timeshares and cabins and this was by far the most immaculate we have ever seen.
